First and foremost, it's Layout Update Day! I'm back to my good old [sub]wintr theme that I was totally rocking this time last year. I love this theme. :D
Secondly it's also officially Karin Dreijer Andersson Day here at [sub]norml.
I was scouring the blogs the other day for some good tunes, and I stumbled upon this track. It was said about this track that it would inspire one to "dance relentlessly". As an individual who favors music that produces this sort of effect, I downloaded it and added it to my library. After the first play, the "producer" part of me said that this track was no good, that it had no depth, and that it was just another rubbish track that I'd found on the Internet.
After the second play, my ears and body revolted against my producer sensibilities and basically told them to shut up and DANCE.
Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present one of the catchiest electro-saw-wave-enhanced basslines to ever warp itself around Karin Dreijer Andersson's voice (more on her in a moment):
Röyksopp - Tricky Tricky (Horror Shower Remix)
So who is Horror Shower, and who the heck is Karin Dreijer Andersson?
You may have, at one point, heard of a band called The Knife. Karin Dreijer Andersson provides the vocals. She also has a solo project called Fever Ray, and she has been known to associate and collaborate with Röyksopp from time to time. Why is this significant? Because it allows me to talk all about Rex the Dog!
Rex the Dog is on a one-dog mission to single
Röyksopp - Beautiful Day Without You (Rex the Dog Remix)
The Knife - Marble House (Rex the Dog Remix)
Fever Ray - Triangle Walks (Rex the Dog Edit)
Röyksopp - This Must Be It (Rex the Dog K-DART Remix)
K-DART Remix? What? Yeah. That stands for Karin Dreijer Andersson Remix Team. This is because Rex the Dog remixes so many tracks with KDA's voice on them (do you see what I did there?). There's a reason for this, too - it works. Download the tracks to see what all the fuss is about!
... oh, and about Horror Shower? Their MySpace doesn't give much information, but they're from France, which, as we discussed already, means that they are awesome. (Look near the end of the post.)
Well... I'm about done with typing now! I have written three psychology papers in the last weekend, and I'm only really blogging right now because I want to feel like I've accomplished something important. ;D
Also, it hasn't escaped my attention that my blog is getting more readers! I thank you all for your support - you guys inspire me to keep going on and on about nothing in particular. You're all awesome.
