I've been a bit silent for the past few days, and there's a good reason for it.
My best friend is going blind.
Yes, it's sad but true... the screen on my laptop is going dead. As you can see, I ripped it all apart. It's back together now (only two extra screws). I'm gonna have to send it in to Acer for repairs.
So right now, I'm on my mom's laptop. She's gracious enough to let me use hers, but it's nowhere near the same. :'(
I'm depressed. I'm really, seriously depressed over this.
I'll blog more later when I'm in a better mood. The words are just not coming tonight.

awww-poor john's computer! don't worry, i'm sure that it will be fixed in no time at all, and you are always welcome to use my laptop. Shelly doesn't mind =)
Aw, thanks, Lynn. You and Shelly made my day today, just so you know.

Aaaargh! I feel your pain. One day long ago I was happily hacking along when suddenly a TINY FREAKING SCREW in my CD drive came unfastened, fell down, and stuck the drive open. After much cursing and fumbling with needlenosed pliars, I was forced to hand over my beloved lappy to Best Buy Tech Support (it was under warranty). Somehow, it took them two weeks to repair the stupid little thing. ;)
Oh, well. Tech support is very good for some things. If it doesn't work, try ripping out the dying fluorescent backlight and sticking about two dozen LEDs in, instead. x)
One more thing. Define "dying"? My dad's laptop once intermittently stopped backlighting, which seriously freaked him out, but he found a tiny plunger switch on the inside of the case was stuck down. It was responsible for deactivating the screen when the lid closed. Because it got stuck, the screen was permanently turned off. He gave it a good prod and it resumed normal functioning. But if the screen is simply getting dim... then nevermind.
Also, the laptop looks incredibly badass without its case.
In the meantime, have fun borrowing other peoples' laptops! And maybe if you're lucky you can run FL studio from your thumbdrive! ^__^
I obviously neglected to watch the video supplement before I made that comment. xD
So, never mind what I said about the intermittent backlighting thing.
Heh, I remember the screw-attack (you mentioned on Team Mage, waaaaay back in the day).
Using other people's laptops = lose. I can't take them everywhere with me! Seriously, this is like a full body cast for my mind... and ears... and eyes... ohh crap. 0.o
Yes. And I really wish that replacing a light would work. :'(
